InDIG-Stories: who we are & what we do

Who We Are
We are InDIG-Stories—rooted in the wisdom of our Elders and guided by the voices of our young people.
We are a collective of educators, creatives, technologists, and community members, walking together with one shared purpose: to honour, protect, and uplift the stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across New South Wales.
InDIG-Stories is more than a digital platform—it’s a culturally safe space where young people are encouraged to stand proud in who they are, share the stories that live within them, and grow the skills to walk strong into creative and digital futures.
Here, culture and technology come together—keeping our stories alive, creating new opportunities, and lighting the way forward for the next generation.
What We Do
At InDIG-Stories, everything we do is guided by culture, connection, and care. Our programs are designed to uplift, empower, and inspire—creating spaces where young people can grow in confidence, creativity, and cultural pride.
✅ Digital Storytelling & Creative Writing Workshops
We support young people to find and share their voice—using tools like video, voice recording, animation, and AI—while staying grounded in cultural knowledge and guided by community values.
✅ Tech & Media Skills Training
Hands-on, practical learning that bridges the gap between ancient wisdom and new technology. Students build the skills they need to step into the digital world with strength and purpose.
✅ Community-Led Content Creation
We walk alongside Aboriginal parents, carers, Elders, and schools to co-create stories that reflect local identity, language, and history—stories that are real, respectful, and rooted in place.
✅ Cultural Preservation
By safely capturing and sharing non-secret, non-sacred stories, we honour our past and protect it for the future—helping our young people stay connected to who they are and where they come from.
